Can you ping it by IP? To do this, open DOS prompt, type ping ip as showing below.

If yes, Setp 4 - check name resolution If you receive "Request Time Out", check if any firewall such as Windows Firewall, Alert Zone, Norton Internet Security is blocking the ping and file sharing. Here is an example how to enable file and printer sharing in Windows Firewall.

If you don't have firewall or any software blocking the ping, continue Setp 2 - check the TCP/IP settings.
