Case Study - Can't start Windows

Situation: The client can't start Windows 2000. When the computer starts, it freeze in Windows Startup and never displays Windows screen.

Troubleshooting: 1. We can start it from Safe Mode, but it runs very slow.

2. Go to HKAY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Run, delete all programs.

3. Copy MSCONFIG from XP to disable most applications.

4. Reformat the computer and re-install the Windows 2000.

Resolution: Since all above don't fix the problem, we re-set BIOS by removing the battery for 5 second and re-store it. The windows starts normally.
