Case Study - Event ID 7031 - Service terminated unexpectedly. The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated unexpectedly Situation: The client just migrated their email hosting from Exchange 2000 to 2003 recently. The server keeps receiving this Event ID 7031 "The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this %2 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in %3 milliseconds: %5." in the past 3 months. It happens randomly. When they receive this Event ID, the Information Store service is stopped and no one can send or receive email. Reboot the exchange server or re-start Information Store service will fix the problem. Troubleshooting: We have searched this event id on Google but couldn't find a solution. Our temporary solution is using Windows Services Recovery option. So that, whenever the Information Store stops, the server re-start it in one minute automatically. Finally. we fixed this problem by Creating a new Queue folder. To do so, rename the Queue folder to Queue_old, and then restart the IIS Admin service and the other Exchange services.
