How to restore Hyper-V VM with 2 or more disks
Assuming you have a VM with 2 disks in Hyper-V running windows 2008 R2. You have used Windows Backup to backup the VM. Now, you want to restore it on different Windows 2008 R2 Server. Please follow these steps:
1. Run Windows Server Backup and click Recover. 2. Since it was backed up on the different server, check backup stored on another location.
3. Follow the instruction to restore the VM. 4. Now, run Hyper-V Manager to create a new virtual machine. 5. You check Use an existing virtual hard disk and browse to the OS VHD. Note: There are two disks in the VM, but you select OS disk first and then will add the second disk later.
6. Follow the instruction and create the VM and then click Settings in the VM. 7. In the Settings page, create as shown.
