Microsoft Hotfix
What’s hotfix
A Microsoft hotfix is a file or a collection of files that you can apply to Windows products to correct a specific problem. Hotfixes are packaged in an executable (.exe) file, which is a self-installing format. When you install a hotfix, files are backed up automatically so that you can remove the hotfix later. To resolve a specific problem you are experiencing immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix. It is FREE. To do that, find the article describes the issue. Then call Microsoft at (888) 677-9444 and give them the article #. Microsoft will send the hotfix to you by email. Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the specific update in question. How to install/remove a hotfix To install a hotfix, just double-click the excutable file sent to you. You can use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to remove the hotfix.
