How to record your screen on macOS

Using the Screenshot Toolbar

  1. Press Shift + Command + 5: This will open the Screenshot toolbar.
  2. Select “Record Entire Screen” or “Record Selected Portion”: Choose the option that suits your needs.
  3. Click “Options”: Adjust settings like microphone selection and mouse clicks.
  4. Click “Record”: Start your screen recording.
  5. Click the “Stop” button in the menu bar or press Command + Control + Esc to stop recording.
  6. Save or edit your recording: The recording will automatically be saved to your desktop.

Using QuickTime Player

  1. Open QuickTime Player: You can find it in your Applications folder.
  2. Go to File > New Screen Recording: This will open the Screen Recording window.
  3. Click the arrow next to the Record button: Choose your recording settings.
  4. Click “Record”: Start your screen recording.
  5. Click the “Stop” button in the menu bar or press Command + Control + Esc to stop recording.
  6. Save or edit your recording: QuickTime Player will automatically open the recording.
