How to configure connection filter on Exchange to block spam

  1. Open Exchange System Manager.
  2. Navigate  Global Settings
  3. Right-click on the Message Delivery settings and select the Properties.
  4. On the General tab, click Add to add a connection filter.
  1. In the Display Name, type a name for connection filter.
  2. Add the desired RBL service, for example list.dsbl.org, and click OK.
  3. You can also configure exceptions for these rules. Click the Exceptions button and enter your settings.
  4. A warning shows that you have to enable the filtering at the SMTP virtual servers.
  5. Navigate Exchange System Manager>Administrative Group>Domain name>Server name>Protocol>SMTP.
  6. Right-click on SMTP Virtual Server and select the properties.
  7. On the General tab, click the Advanced Button.
  8. Click the Edit button.
  9. Check the 'Apply Connection Filter' checkbox.
  10. Click Ok all the way out.
