How to setup two VLANs to access a network printer  - Step by step with screenshots 

 

Situation: The client has two VLAN, one for private network and another for public access. They have one network printer and want both VLANs to use it.

 

Resolutions: It may have multiple resolutions. Here are some of them.

 

1. Put the printer in public VLAN and configure the switch to allow private VLAN to access it.

 

2. Setup a printer server with two NICs connecting to both VLANs.

 

3. Put the printer in one of VLAN and configure two ways communication between a server and printer so that both VLANs can send print job to the printer serer.
