How to Install VMware ESX Server 3 This article describes how to install the ESX Server software step by
step with screenshot. Note 1: when installing ESX Server on IDE/ATA or SATA drives, keep in
mind the following considerations.
Note 2: Make sure the network cable is plugged into your primary
Ethernet adapter. The ESX Server installer needs a
live network connection to properly detect certain network settings and
receive TCP/IP settings from a DHCP server. Note 3: if the ESX Server is connected to a SAN, VMware recommends temporarily
disconnecting the ESX
Server from the SAN prior to installation to avoid the risk of accidentally
overwriting the data on a shared
LUN. 2. The ESX Server begins its boot. If it doesn't boot from the CD/DVD,
reboot it and press 3. In Welcome to the ESX Server 3.5 Installer screen, click Next to continue.
