Install Vista on XP computer using
Gparted live CD utility.
These are the steps I did on my XP laptop:
-
Prepare for the installation – backup the XP and data.
-
Download Gparted Live CD and boot it from the XP laptop.
-
After Gparted starts, it lists the current
partitions (including their filesystem types) on the hard disk.
-
Highlight
/dev/hda1, and click on
Resize/Move.
- Type
the size you want, and click on the
Resize/Move button.
-
The
/dev/hda1
has been shrinked, and you will see the new, free space is unallocated.
The follow the instruction to create a new partition.
-
After restart the computer, you can install Vista in the new partition.
