Setup DNS suffix For VPN Ping VPN resource by host name instead of FQDN Q: I have a 2003 RAS box acting as my VPN solution. It has one NIC on my only internal subnet, and hands out IP addresses from its own pool. When clients connect from outside, they aren't getting handed the connection-specific DNS suffix of the internal domain, so whenever they want to connect to an internal resource, they have to spell out the whole FQDN. Is there a way I can have RAS hand out the connection-specifig dns suffix to VPN clients? A: This is good question. It is better to setup WINS server for VPN name resolution.
