How to setup VPN between FVS318 and windows 2000

Configuring the Client-to-Gateway VPN Tunnel on the FVS318v3 (Figure)

1. Connect to the FVS318 firewall by typing http://firewallip, for example, http://192.168.0.1 or http://www.routerlogin.net in the address field of your Internet browser, then press Enter. Enter the username and password.

2. Click VPN Settings. You will have VPN settings page.

3. Fill in the Connection Name, ChicagoTech in our case. Note: The Connection Name is arbitrary and not relevant to how the configuration functions.

4. Local IPSec Identifier: fill in local router public IP, 172.16.0.1 in our case.

5. Remote IPSec Identifier: can be the remote router IP or FQDN, 172.16.0.2 in our case.

6. Tunnel can be accessed from: select a subnet of local address if you want to access the LAN.

7. Local LAN start IP Address: by default, local LAN start IP will be selected, 192.168.0.1 in our case if a subnet of local address is selected.

8. Local LAN finish IP Address: it will be 0.0.0.0 that is grayed out if a subnet of local address is selected.

9. Local LAN IP Subnetmask: it will be 255.255.255.0 if a subnet of local address is selected.

10. Tunnel can access: select a single remote address in most cases.

11. Remote LAN start IP Address: 10.0.0.11 in our case.

12. Remote LAN finish IP Address: it will be 0.0.0.0 and grayed out.

13. Remote LAN IP Subnetmask: it will be 0.0.0.0 and grayed out.

14. Remote WAN IP or FQDN: keep it blank or fill in 0.0.0.0.

15. Security Association: Main Mode.

16. Perfect Forward Security: Check Enable.

17. Encryption Protocol: 3DES.

18. PreShare Key: ChicagoTech in our case.

19. Key Life: 28800.

20. IKE Life Time: 86400.

21. NETBIOS Enable: check it.

22. Click Apply to save the settings.
